Thank you for your openness and being willing to share. As women I think we put enormous pressure in ourselves to be perfect wives, mothers etc.; society doesnโ€™t help much either.

I, too, have struggled with these issues and at 58, have started being kinder to myself and have also let go of the guilt associated with the cutting-out of my life, of toxic family members, who bring me nothing but anxiety and pain.

Kudos on getting help and strength to you, going forward. Enjoy those little people, they grow so fast, and be kind to yourself. You are SO enough Just look at the joy and pleasure (and therapy!) you have brought to thousands of women (and men) around the world.

Lots of love from Madeleine in South Africa

Thank you for sharing your story, it takes huge courage to put yourself out there and to be truthful about how your feeling and whatโ€™s going on in your life.
I had to take a huge step back as Iโ€™ve been poorly for 7 years before I got a diagnosis of lupus
Plus another 8 autoimmune diseases, I didnโ€™t take my debilitating health very well as I had to rest a lot! I was working 7 days a week, and I breed alpacas and chickens.
I took up crochet, I have all of your monthly boxes and they bring me soo much happiness!
    Take care of you.
    Kind regards
    Joy

Thank you for being so open about choosing to attend therapy! A wonderfully helpful tool that is so often hidden or swept under the rug.
I found Bella Coco in late 2020 and am certain thereโ€™s still tons to explore here whilst you take some time for yourself. You – and we all – certainly deserve it!

Oh my, youโ€™ve certainly been on a journey and the decision to take some time is absolutely the right decision for you and your family. Iโ€™m fairly new to crochet, took up the hook in lockdown like so many and it has given me something else to focus on (and a new yarn addiction) but also something I can control which at the moment is something we all need so when it feels like things are spiralling itโ€™s time to just breath, rest and recuperate. One thing I have found is that there is so much positivity in the crochet community and thatโ€™s exactly what everyone needs in these uncertain times. I wish you well.

Thank you for sharing this personal information. Itโ€™s so easy to look at people from the outside and think their life is perfect. All those happy smiling people on Instagram can seem like they have the most fulfilled lives, and when we compare those images to our own real messy lives, itโ€™s not surprising we feel like weโ€™re failing. But no oneโ€™s life is perfect, those smiles may be only there when the camera is on. We never know otherโ€™s reality, only our own. I owe you my crochet journey, and Iโ€™m so grateful to you. I wish you happiness and fulfilment in 2021.

Thank you for sharing your story. You are an inspiration. After years of trying and purchasing countless books on the subject, I came across your videos, and it was you who taught me to crochet. This was over four years ago. Since then I lost my dear Mum, but she did see me achieve my ambition to crochet, and that is thanks to you. Iโ€™ve not done any crochet since losing my Mum, as I have struggled with negative thoughts and lack of interest. After reading this, I intend to brush up on my skills, and start to crochet again. I have enough stash to last a lifetime, so there is no better time to start afresh. Just hope it all comes back to me !! Thank you again and take care. Hugs

Just wanted to say a quick THANK YOU. Iโ€™ve had counselling in the past and it really helped explore negative thought patterns and to start to see yourself as others see you, not how you think they do. Also to see how you cast yourself into a โ€˜role.โ€™ Iโ€™m loving the projects and how Crochet Society de-mystifies it all. Sending love, hugs and positivity to everyone.

Hello there. First and foremost your videos teaching crochet are superb. I started crocheting just after Christmas and today finished the 5 beginner tutorials. I am getting addicted to crochet. I hope I will be making blankets and sweaters soon.

Number two take courage Mama you are enough. Thoughthings get tough you are stronger than you think you are. I wish you God’s blessings as you prepare for your baby and settling in the new house.

I look forward to more lessons.

Itโ€™s nice to see that so many people like me have learned to crochet during the past year it is something I always wanted to do as my Aunt was amazing at it when I was young I was fascinated and you make it look so easy… itโ€™s not like that when Iโ€™m doing it!!! …Can I say I totally empathise with the imposter syndrome… I have just taken early retirement from a senior position in the gas business I was never lucky enough to have children so concentrated on a career that was so male dominated I had to be on top of my game and I never thought I was good enough …. before I left a few weeks ago I had so many people asking me what they were going to do without me .. Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™re fine as life goes on but you donโ€™t realise how good you are and how much you know and now you have given me and loads of other people a great hobby that we are all loving … even though I think Iโ€™m rubbish and rewind you videos a 100 times …. hope you are ok and looking forward to seeing you in Feb

Thank you very much for sharing. I wish you all the very best.
Your tutorials are excellent. Despite many attempts from time to time, I had never managed to learn crochet. Early in 2020, I discovered your tutorials and for the first time (at 64 y.o.), I could make sense of what to do!
    Congratulations on your wonderful work.

    Hi,

Very good & brave of you to be as honest & open as I read above. I think everyone needs some ‘me time. I have deliberately tried to stay away from any kind of news shows. Knowing this is something that will not be fixed any time soon, I do not see the point of hearing about it repeatedly, having it reinforced that I am alone & that it will not change.

I think I would really enjoy your Cosy Club..the Craft Guild I was part of here hasn’t met since March. Unfortunately, living in Canada, I am 6 hours behind you & I am no where near being a morning person. lol The Cosy Club sound like a great group to be a part of.

Hope what I have said makes sense…good thoughts for all.

I learned so much from you, in my crochet journey. I was with you when you were pregnant, with the little Princess, that is going to be a big sister. I was with you when you were selling yarn out of your room. I am with you now. You have been so open and sharing with your followers. I think that is why I love you. I am also so very proud of you. Stay strong.โค๏ธ

I am having a go at the nesting basket but my sides donโ€™t seem to be going up and straight- it feels baggy and bowl-like. Can you help? I feel like it might be when I start the next row – could I be increasing slightly with the chain/join?
