This crochet Scrunchie is super quick and easy to make. It’s the perfect stash buster or a quick make for instant satisfaction. The great thing about these scruncies is that you can customise them to your liking. Today I have used Bernat Velvet yarn because I love the look and feel and think its a little softer on the hair, but of course, you can choose to use any yarn you like!

MATERIALS AND TOOLS NEEDED
- Yarn used: Bernat Velvet in Shadow Purple
- Hook: 6.5mm
- Hair Ties

PATTERN NOTES
- Written in UK terms
- The pattern can be adapted to use alternative yarns, however you may need to increase or decrease the number of stitches. The most important thing here is to make sure that your stitches aren’t pulling the hair tie too tight.
CROCHET TERMS
Slip Stitch(s): ss(s): Insert hook, yarn over pull through stitch and loop on hook
Chain(s): ch(s): Yarn over, pull through
Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
Unsure of the differences between UK and US terms? Need a refresher on how to do your stitches? In my ‘How to crochet: A handy reference guide’ EBook I help you with all of these terms and you can always have them to hand! You will also get exclusive access to free video instructions. CROCHET SCRUNCHIE PATTERN
You will be working around the hair tie as you go, this will mean you will insert your hook around the bobble instead of working into a stitch. It might sound complicated, but trust me, it’s super easy.
Starting with a slip knot on your hook, dc around hair tie, ch 2
Work 65 tr around hair tie, ss in ch-2 from beginning of the round. Tie off
Weave in ends being careful not to pull too tight. I always use the rule of three (see video below)
