Pattern Notes
- This project is worked from the bottom up, creating the base before working the main body.
Pattern is written in one size to fit a standard 75cl wine bottle. - Ch 1 at the beginning of the row or round does not count as a stitch.
- You will be using an interlocking technique, which means you will be joining the current and previous rounds for parts of the pattern.
- When working the interlocking rounds of the main body, you drop the colour not being used, leaving a working loop. Always ensure your main colour (MC) is dropped to the front of the work and the contrast colour (CC) is dropped to the back.
- Place a stitch marker in the dropped loop at the end of each round so it doesn’t unravel.
- The granny clusters are worked through both thicknesses: the ch-2 sp of the V-stitch and the sp between the granny clusters below. This is what locks the lattice together.
- A stacked dc is used at the start of the CC rounds in place of a ch 3, for a neater join.
- The round numbering restarts at the main body set-up.
- Stitch counts are given in angled brackets at the end of each round, for example <14 Vsts>
- The final dc round draws the top in slightly so the holder sits snugly around the neck of the bottle.
- Before working Round 47, slip the cover onto your bottle to check the height. Add or remove rounds in pairs (a CC cluster round and an MC Vst round) so that you always finish on a Vst round.
- Please read through the whole pattern before starting.
Gauge
Base measures 5cm (2in) after Round 5.
5 Vsts and 10 Vst rounds per 10cm x 10cm (4in x 4in) measured over main stitch pattern.
Completed Size
Fits standard size wine bottle.
Measured laid flat, excluding base: W 14cm x H 19cm (5.5in x 7.5in)
