MATERIALS & TOOLS NEEDED
- Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in:
- Colour A – Duck Egg
- Colour B – Grey
- Colour C – Mustard
- Colour D – Parchment

- Colour F – Storm Blue
- Hook: 4mm
- Darning Needle
- Scissors
- Cushion Filler: 45cm X 45cm cushion

PATTERN NOTES
- Written in UK Terms
- Gauge = each granny square should measure approx 9cm x 9cm
CROCHET TERMS and abbreviations
Chain Stitch (ch): Insert hook, yarn over, pull though loop on the hook.
Slip Stitch (sl st): Insert hook through stitch, yarn over, pull through chain and loop on the hook.
Double Crochet (dc): Insert hook through stitch, yarn over, pull through chain stitch (2 loops on the hook), yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook
Half Treble Crochet (htr): Yarn over, insert into chain space, yarn over, pull through, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loops on the hook.
Treble Crochet (tr): Yarn over, insert into chain space, yarn over, pull through, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

COASTAL CASTAWAY CROCHET CUSHION pattern
Circle in a square granny square:
- Square 1
- With yarn A, make a slip knot and chain 4, sl st to form a ring.
- Rnd 1: ch 3 (counts as 1 tr), 11tr into the ring, sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. [12tr in total]
- Rnd 2: ch 3 (counts as 1 tr), 2tr into the next space, 2tr into each of the next 10 spaces, 1tr into the last space, sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. [24tr in total]
- Rnd 3: Join yarn D, ch 3 (counts as 1tr), 2tr into the next space, ch 3, 3tr into the same space to create a corner. ch 1, skip 3tr, 3tr into the next space. ch 1, skip 3tr, 3tr into the next space, ch 3, 3tr into the same space to make the next corner, repeat from twice more. ch 1, skip 3tr, 3tr into the next space, ch 1, sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round.
- Rnd 4: ch 3 (counts as a treble), ch 1, 3tr into the corner space, ch 3, 3tr into same corner space. ch 1, 3tr into the next chain space, ch 1, 3tr into the next chain space, ch 1, 3tr into the next corner space, ch 3, 3tr into the same corner space. Repeat from twice more, ch 1, 3tr into the next chain space, ch 1, 2tr into last chain space, sl st into 3rd ch at beg of round. Fasten off, sew in ends.
- Work 4 more squares in these colours. [5 in total]
- Square 2: Rnd 1 and 2: D, Rnd 3 and 4: A
- Square 3: Rnd 1 and 2: D, Rnd 3 and 4: B

joining and construction
- Front of cushion: Join square using darning needle, 5 x 5 squares. Arrange to your liking.
- Back of cushion: Join square using darning needle, 5 x 5 squares. Arrange to your liking.
- Finishing off: Join front to back sewing along three sides, insert cushion, sew up remaining side.
