Learn to crochet the lacey ripple stitch with this free and simple tutorial. This stitch gives a beautiful intricate texture to any project. I don’t know about you but the lacey ripple stitch definitely gives me beach, nautical vibes, particularly because of the colour yarn I chose to make this sample in. This stitch undeniably creates a beautiful surface texture.

MATERIALS & TOOLS
- Yarn: I used Caron Simply Soft in Light Country Blue
- Hook: I used a 4.5mm, however please use corresponding hook for your chosen yarn
- Scissors
- Darning Needle

CROCHET TERMS and abbreviations
This pattern is written in UK terms
- Stitch(s): st(s)
- Chain(s): ch(s): Yarn over, pull through loop on the hook.
- Double Crochet(s): dc(s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop and you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
- Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop and you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
- Treble 2 together: tr2tog: Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop and you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook). Yarn over, insert into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops. (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through remaining loops
- Treble 3 together: tr3tog: Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop and you will have three loops on the hook. *Yarn over, pull through two loops. Yarn over, insert into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * once more. Yarn over and pull through remaining loops.
- Treble 5 together: tr5tog: Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop and you will have three loops on the hook. *Yarn over, pull through two loops. Yarn over, insert into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * three more times. Yarn over and pull through remaining loops.

Lacey ripple stitch PATTERN
- Foundation chain: Chain in multiples of 24 plus 3.
- Row 1: Starting in 4th ch from hook, tr2tog over next 2 chs. *(ch 1, miss a ch, tr in next ch) four times. Ch 1, miss a st, work 5 tr in next ch, (ch 1, miss a ch, tr in next ch) four times. Ch1, skip next ch, tr5tog over next 5 chs: repeat from * omitting the final tr5tog leaving 3 chs. Tr3tog over next 3 chs. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st here or throughout) dc in each sts and ch-1 sp across. Turn
- Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as tr here and throughout) starting in next st, tr2tog working over next 2 sts. *(ch 1, miss a ch, tr in next ch) four times. Ch 1, miss a st, work 5 tr in next ch, (ch 1, miss a ch, tr in next ch) four times. Ch1, skip next ch, tr5tog over next 5 chs: repeat from * omitting the final tr5tog leaving 3 chs. Tr3tog over next 3 chs. Turn.
- Repeat row 2 & 3 until you reach your desired size.
