MATERIALS & TOOLS
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in 2 colours (Colour A, Colour B)
Hook: 5mm or size needed to obtain gauge

Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook
Cluster: 3tr worked in same space

Slip Stitch (ss): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through stitch and loop on hook
Treble Crochet (tr): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), (yarn over, draw through 2 loops) twice.

GRANNY SQUARE HEART PATTERN
Foundation loop: With colour A, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form a loop.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as tr), 2 tr into loop, (ch 3, 3 tr in loop) three times, ch 3, ss to top of beginning ch-3. (4 clusters of 3tr, 4 ch-3 sps)
Round 2: Ch 3, *ch 1, (3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in ch-3 sp; repeat from * around working only 2 tc in last cluster, ss to third ch of beginning ch. (8 clusters, 4 ch-3 sps, 4 ch-1 sps)
Colour Changes: when changing colours, draw new colour through loop on hook, pull loop of old colour snug against new colour, cut old colour, tie tails of colours if you wish.

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 tr in same ch-1 sp, with colour B, ch 1, (3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in ch-3 sp (corner made), with colour A, ch 1, cluster in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, work corner in ch-3 sp, with colour B, ch 1, cluster in next ch-1 sp, with colour A, ch 1, work corner in ch-3 sp, ch 1, cluster in next ch-1 sp, with colour B, ch 1, work corner in ch-3 sp, ch 1, ss to top of beginning ch-3.
Round 4: Ch 3, *[ch 1, work cluster in next ch-1 sp] to corner ch-3 sp, ch 1, work corner in ch-3 sp; repeat from * around working only 2 tr in last ch-1 sp, ss to third ch of beginning ch. Fasten off and weave in ends.
