Pumpkin (Small ONLY)

With MC, chain 20

Row 1: Dc in second ch from hook and in each ch across until you have 2 chs remaining. Ss in last 2 sts. Turn. <19 sts>
Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st here and throughout), dc in first 2 sts, (dtr in next st, dc in next st) across until you have 3 sts remaining, dtr in next st, dc in last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, ss in first 2 sts, dc in each st until you have 2 sts remaining. Ss in last 2 sts. Turn.
Rows 4 & 5: Repeat rows 2 & 3.
Rows 6 & 7: Ch 1, dc in each st across. Turn.
Rows 8-31: Repeat row 2-7 four more times.
Rows 32-36: Repeat rows 2-6.
Fold short sides together with right sides facing each other. You will now be working through both thicknesses.
Ch 1, ss in the underside of the foundation chain and corresponding st of the final row in each st across.
Fasten off leaving a long tail end for sewing.

Pumpkin (Medium & Large ONLY)

Written as M (L)
With MC, chain 28 (32)
Rows 1-3: Work rows 1 – 3 of the small pumpkin. <27 (31) sts>
Rows 4-7: Repeat rows 2 & 3.
Rows 8 & 9: Ch 1, dc in each st across. Turn.
Rows 10-41 (57): Repeat row 2-9 four (six) more times.
Row 42 (58)-48 (64): Repeat rows 2-8.
Fold short sides together with right sides facing each other. You will now be working through both thicknesses.
Ch 1, ss in the underside of the foundation chain and corresponding st of the final row in each st across.
Fasten off leaving a long tail end for sewing.

Stem (All Sizes)

Written as S (M, L)
With CC make a slip knot leaving a long tail end for sewing.
Chain 5 (6, 7)
Row 1: Dc in second ch from hook and across. (missed ch does not count as st). Turn. <4 (5, 6) sts>
Row 2 & 3: Ch 1, dc in BLO of each st. Turn.
Fold flat with final row and the foundation row together. You will now be working through both thicknesses.
Ch 1, ss in BLO of each st and corresponding st of the underside of the foundation chain.
Fasten off leaving a long tail end. Use beginning tail end to sew the top of the stem closed and then sew in end.
You will be using the long tail end when assembling.

Assembling

Turn pumpkin to have the right side facing outwards.
Using the long tail end of the pumpkin, thread up darning needle and weave the needle in and out of the row ends pulling on the yarn as you pull through. once you have worked your way around the opening, pull tight to pull it closed. Further close the opening by passing the darning needle from one side of the opening to the other until you are happy it’s closed.
Begin stuffing the pumpkin being mindful of the shaping. You do not want to over stuff the pumpkin.
With a length of MC, attach to one of the row ends of the remaining opening. Weave the darning needle in and out of the row ends as before, adding more stuffing if needed.
Fully close the opening and then pass needle down through the pumpkin from top to bottom, pull on yarn to add shape. Fasten off and hide tail end in the body of the pumpkin.
With the remaining long tail of the stem, sew stem onto the centre of the pumpkin using whip stitch. Hide remaining ends in the body of the pumpkin.
