BABY ELF HAT PATTERN

This hat is designed to fit babies between the ages of 3 and 6 months.

If you’re looking for extra sizes the low-cost pattern includes size 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-12 months in a printer-friendly PDF.

Using Colour A, Foundation: Chain 6

Row 1: Half treble crochet (htc) into the second chain from the hook. htr into the remaining 4 chains.

Row 2-32: Chain 2 and turn. htr into the back loops of each chain. This row will consist of 5 stitches (including chain 2)

This section of work should measure roughly 15.5 inches.

Lower rim: Chain one and turn your work onto its side so that you can work down the length of the strip. dc along this edge into the available spaces (please note that you should aim for around 42- 44 stitches along this side)

Connecting: Fold your work so that the shorter sides are laying flat next to each other. Slip stitch along the short edge to create a circle and form the rim of the hat.

You will now be creating the main hat portion of the design

Upper rim (Row 1): Chain 2 and dc along this rim. You will need to space out your work to allow for 46 stitches (The chain 2 counts as one stitch) along this edge. Connect and change to colour B.

The following rows will be worked alternating from colour A to colour B.

Thank you, I’m glad you like it It looks like this is just a typo in the pattern and it should actually read 39 tr – I will have this corrected asap. I’m sorry for any confusion this has caused.
